Texas Cord Blood Bank Excited for Future

An article at MySanAntonio.com discusses a Texas (USA) cord blood bank and why the people involved with it are excited about the future.

The article notes, in part: "There's no doubt that cord blood is the wave of the future, and that it will be used more and more in medical treatments, and possibly will replace bone marrow in the future," said Dr. Norman Kalmin, CEO of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center."

The article isn't really a detailed profile piece on the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. Instead, the MySA article serves primarily as an introduction to the potential of cord blood and discusses the process of collection and storage in general terms.

It also mentions research published in The Lancet advocating the use of umbilical cord blood as a means of treating diseases.
